Trend alert - Botanical Prints

When the house to home network tweeted this image above asking if people loved or loathed botanical prints I held up my hand to declare my love. For days I had been researching Redoute rose prints. Pierre-Joseph Redoute was a French artist of the late 18th and 19th century. He produced a book called Les Roses and here are some beautiful images from said book.

I had originally been inspired by this image I found on Pinterest originally from Pluuperi and wanted to find out where I could get some beautiful rose illustrations which led me to Redoute's Les Roses (ebay does a nice line) .

But you don't need to go down the pink floral route to follow this trend. Here are some rather lovely neutral interiors that incorporate it.

What I really like about this trend as you can go really chintz or quite minimal with these prints What do you think? Do you love or loath?

Make time for tea

Funny thing is I don't actually drink tea...maybe this should read 'Make time for Ribena!'

Home office eye candy

I have a bee in my bonnet at the moment about 'stuff'. Yes there is 'stuff' everywhere..all over my house (I am such a magpie hoarder) and I am currently in the process of decluttering. I have also been thinking about re-vamping my tired 'office' area (if you could call it that!) and came across these inspirational home offices. I love the idea of the one below. The thought that you could shut up your whole office once you have finished for the day like a suitcase is so cute!

How do you organise your office area? Any tips for me? I am thinking of getting lots of 'pretty' storage boxes and making some sort of feature out of them...

Some exciting news and a trend alert - 70's florals!

So I had some hugely exciting news today :) It's the kind of news where you have to pinch yourself to make sure it's real. I can't actually say what it is yet....I don't think I am allowed :) But I hope to reveal all later on this week so on that note lets move on to a trend!

Forget your standard 1970's brown, orange and yellow combo. 70's florals are back and beautiful for 2011. I love this trend. It feels so fresh and exciting. It also mixes really well with the 'colour clash' wall paper trend for 2011. I think Amy Butler does it best and sums it up nicely in her beautiful products here.

I love this colour palette.

Pssstt if you are a crafty kinda kid check out Amy's website for free pattern's which include pillowcases, wall art and my favourite Nigella Silouhettes (below).

Do you like what you see? How do you think this trend could fit into a corner of your home?

My new obsession - Pinterest!

Pin·terest (pĭn'trĭst): n. a social catalog to collect and share things you love

It's my new obsession! I first came across it whilst browsing the lovely blog Secrets of a Butterfly and managed to wrangle myself an invite.

I love the idea of being able to collate all your images into neatly organised boards with the source still attached (something that you could not do with dropbox which I have been using) for other people to explore. The layout of the website is really clear which enables the images to talk for themselves and what I really love is the community feel and the encouragement to go out and explore other peoples tastes and finds. I have been using it to start collating inspirational images for the impending wedding (which as we are on the subject is not going to be until 2012...but I thought I would get started early as surely half the fun is the planning!).

Pinterest is still in it's early days and is currently in private beta so to join you need to go on their waiting list however, I have some free invitations if anyone of you would like to join? Just leave a comment or Tweet me (yes I do that now although I am still getting to grips with the whole hash tag marlarky and abbreviations thang!) and I will email you an invite.

Do you already use Pinterest? If not how to you collate your images?
